Above and Beyond

At Berkeley Homes, we not only build communities, but we are also a part of our own community. Consistently recognized for innovative product design and community involvement, we are both creative and dedicated to giving back. In this section are some of our accomplishments that we are proud to share with you.

HURRICANE KATRINA AND TSUNAMI RELIEF
When these two tragic natural disasters affected thousands upon thousands of people both domestically and worldwide in 2005, Berkeley Homes made monetary contributions to both relief funds through company donations and employee-matching donations.

THE HOMEBUILDERS FOUNDATION
The Homebuilder's Foundation works closely with the Homebuilders Association of Metropolitan Denver and volunteers from the homebuilding industry to help Coloradoans in need. They have worked to help make homes wheelchair accessible for victims of accidents or tragedies, helped to re-build homes destroyed by fire and has completed some major remodeling projects for individuals with a variety of disabilities. We are pleased to lend our time, energy, talents and support to this foundation.

GWENDOLYN & ADAM BAKER
Wheelchair bound and on a fixed income, the Bakers did not have the money available to make their home wheelchair accessible. Todd Eisenmenger, Berkeley Homes Project Manager and Mike Stershic, Boller & Deal Construction (see photo) designed and built a ramp from the sidewalk to the front door of the Bakers' home. Everyone who was there agreed, the look on Adam Baker's face when he was able to wheel down and pick up his own mail made all of the hard work well worth it.

DANE BOWER RESIDENCE
After several surgeries to repair a spinal disorder, Dane Bower returned home in a wheelchair. The Homebuilder Foundation joined Dane's father Doug and a host of local firefighters to make Dane's home wheelchair accessible and provide ramps in the front and rear of his home.

CASAS FOR CASA
CASA, a non-profit organization where volunteers help find safe and permanent homes for children in the Denver area, presented a unique opportunity for us to give back in a community where we were currently building homes. With the generous help of our trade partners, we designed and built storybook playhouses to be auctioned off during the 2002, 2004, 2004 and 2005 Parade of Homes, with all proceeds from the auction going to Casas for CASA.

WARREN VILLAGE
Warren Village has helped to promote self-sufficiency for single-parent families by providing model programs in transitional family support services, affordable housing, and quality childcare since 1974. We were so impressed we joined together with our trade partners and friends to build perfect 1/5 scale playhouses based on our new home designs for the purpose of raising money to benefit Warren Village. We held a cocktail party at our model complex at Firelight, and held a live auction that raised $19,000 for Warren Village.

We also threw a Fall Festival just before Halloween with hay rides, live music, face painting and Halloween crafts. We had a refreshment stand with doughnuts donated by Krispy Kreme and a pumpkin patch where you could pick out the perfect jack-o-lantern. More than $6,000 was raised for Warren Village from the Fall Festival alone.

Because of our involvement with Warren Village, Berkeley Homes received the Warren Village President's Award at their annual award dinner. The President's Award is given each year to the person or organization that has made the most significant contribution to the Warren Village Community, and we were extremely touched and honored to be the recipient of this very special award.
