We at Berkeley Homes believe that it is important to give back to our community and help those in need. Therefore, for many years we have been a proud supporter of the Home Builders Foundation (HBF), a Denver-based nonprofit whose mission is to build independence, provide opportunities, and elevate lives for individuals and families with disabilities in our community.
Our Vice President of Development and Construction, Larry Malone, recently served as a Project Captain for the Home Builders Foundation. He and his team renovated a kitchen for Nicole, a homeowner who uses a wheelchair and loves to cook.
Thanks to our renovations, she now has a fully accessible kitchen! Malone says of his work with Nicole, “In home building, we build communities. Giving back to the community we build is really what it’s all about.”
Nicole raves about the work Larry and the HBF did, saying that she loves her renovations, and how the team listened to her closely in order to assess her household needs. Moreover, she says, laughing, “I love Larry. This guy was on it like, this,” as she snaps her fingers.
This project is one of many that we have spearheaded at Berkeley Homes. We recently worked together to renovate a local barn area to be used by a high school graduate, Carson, so that he could have his own living space and remain on his family’s land.
In partnership with the HBF, we are committed to enhancing the quality of life for our residents. Our homes are our refuge, and as such they should be fully lived in, built—and modified—to accommodate special needs (check out this video that features some of our work).
Additionally, we are committed to HBF as annual supporters, and will be partnering with them on their upcoming Blitz Build project later in 2019! Stay tuned for more information about this exciting event, when builders, contractors and many other volunteers will work together over a three-day period to build ramps all across the Denver metro area for people who need the access to their homes.
Programs such as Blitz Build don’t just enhance homes, they develop relationships. We have seen lifelong friendships form between volunteers, residents, and contractors. We are proud to build more than homes; we build communities.
At Berkeley Homes, we always enjoy working with the Home Builders Foundation, especially the bonds we build with the community. Our residents speak highly of us and that matters a lot! For more information about our beautiful homes, or our work in the Denver area, contact our team today.
